1⃣EigenLayer Addresses Transparency Concerns Over Staking Practices and Circulating Supply Confusion
@eigenlayer has updated its documentation to address transparency concerns after facing criticism for allowing early #investors to stake locked tokens and receive unlocked rewards—a practice not initially disclosed. This led to confusion about the circulating supply of EIGEN tokens and concerns over special treatment for investors.
While 200 million tokens were expected to be in circulation, only 114 million tokens are currently circulating, with 73 million tokens restaked, resulting in a small active float of 2.42%. EigenLayer has since clarified on its #staking system, capping rewards and ensuring most incentives go to non-investors. However, some community members still felt that these details should have been communicated earlier. This has resulted in a sharp 15%-20% price drop of EIGEN tokens shortly after its listing on CEXs.📉
2⃣Vitalik Buterin Proposes Reducing Ethereum Staking Minimum to Encourage Solo Participation
@ethereum co-founder @VitalikButerin has put forward a proposal to lower the 32 #ETH minimum deposit required for staking, suggesting a reduction to 16 or 24 ETH to make solo staking more accessible. He argued that the current threshold acts as a barrier rather than a necessity for bandwidth, and smaller deposits could be allowed by adjusting the bandwidth requirements.
Hinting at a future reduction to as low as 1 ETH with the implementation of advancements like Orbit SSF (Single Slot Finality) for faster transaction confirmation and PeerDAS (feature to improve Data Availability Sampling). This move could potentially help to decentralise Ethereum’s staking ecosystem, which is currently dominated by large providers like @LidoFinance, managing nearly 24% of all staked ETH.⚒️
3⃣Hamster Kombat Unveils Updated Roadmap with Plans for: Token Buyback, Gaming Platform and NFTs
@hamster_kombat, the popular @telegram-based clicker game, has revealed its roadmap for late 2024 and 2025, including the launch of a #Web3gaming platform to enhance its offerings. Key plans include integrating external payment systems, introducing #NFTs as in-game assets, and launching new games to expand the Hamster ecosystem and keeping users engaged.
Following their recent airdrop, with only 43% of 300 million users eligible, the team has proposed new strategies to maintain engagement, including token vesting, a buyback programme, and burning tokens to create scarcity. In 2025, Hamster Kombat plans to launch an NFT marketplace, host a clan championship, and roll out the second phase of their airdrop.🪂
4⃣VC Lattice Report: Crypto Startups Show Resilience, Infrastructure and CeFi Thrive Despite Challenges
Venture capital firm @lattice_fund revealed that more than 80% of #crypto startups that raised funds in 2022 have survived the bear market. With over 1,200 startups funded that year, $5 billion went into early-stage projects, with many reaching mainnet product launches.
The report also showed that infrastructure projects showed the most resilience, such as restaking platforms like Eigenlayer, and CeFi outperformed expectations, with projects delivering products with strong use-cases, reflecting investor confidence.
Despite receiving significant capital, sectors such as #metaverse and NFTs have struggled with high failure rates and limited user traction due to poor product-market fit. This report has highlighted the importance of utility-driven projects, emphasising that following trendy narratives does not always lead to long-term success.🏆
